Day 57 & 58 Caves of Chaos, Chaotic leader destroyed

Cast of Characters:  Quint as DM, Emily as BreAnna, Tais and Harimad, Scott as Glade

Day 57

Wake up and head over to the tavern for breakfast.  The day is overcast as the party heads back to the caves.  They arrive at the caves without incident.  Their is still a foreboding feeling in the air.  The party heads to the entrance to Cave 9 looking forward to some adventuring.

Harimad casts light on her staff and BreAnna casts light on Tais' walking staff.  They proceed down the hall to the previously unexplored passage sloping down to the west.  They head down the slope to where the passage splits heading north and south.  The party heads south towards what appears to be a room.  The room is rather large with four pillars the reach towards a high, domed ceiling.  The floor is a mosiac of black and red stones.  The south wall has an evil looking tapestry with an altar in front of it.  On the altar is a bowl, two goblets, and a vase-shaped pitcher.  Glade casts Phantasmal Force sending an illusion of himself to walk up to the altar.  His alter ego approaches without incident.  Frederick and BreAnna approach the altar without incident.  The rest of the party cautiously enters the room as well.  The contents of the altar are loathsome and covered in blood.  They are also extremely ornate and obviously valuable.  No one in the party wants to physically touch them.  Harimad, standing guard in the door, decides to cast detect magic.  The altar glows slightly and the items on the altar glow brightly.  Glade takes 4 sacks from Harimad.  He puts one sack inside of the another and puts the other two on his hands.  He uses the sacks to scoop up the objects on the altar.  Glade gets hit with a spell that causes him to not want to do anything to get rid of the objects.  He is slowly succumbing to an evil spell.  The clerics notice something is amiss and start to confer amongst themselves.  Glade starts casting a spell and suddenly a wight comes out of the wall.  The clerics quickly cast Hold Person on Glade and the wight disappears just as Legolas fires a magic missile at it.  The party casts Lighten Load on Glade and pushed him onto a sack.  They quickly dragged him back to the keep casting Hold Person on Glade the whole way.  They go directly to the temple where Priestly was able, with the help of the clerics, to get rid of the spell on Glade.  He recounts that he was under the control of an evil force that was causing him to protect the artifacts at all costs.  Priestly destroys the artifacts leaving nothing but worthless slag left.  The party rests and recuperates the rest of the day.

Day 58

Zachary, the bailiff of the fortress, comes and congratulates the party during breakfast and thanks them for all of their work.  He tells them that they won't have any taxes or official fees while they are in the Keep.

The day is overcast again.  The party travels without event to the Caves again.  They head back to the altar room.  They pull down the tapestry and search the room for secret doors.  They don't find anything.  They decide to head north down the unexplored hallway.  The party sees two doors on the right hand side of the hallway.  They approach the first door and don't hear anything when they listen.  They go down to the second door and hear nothing there as well.  They go back to the first and tie a rope to it and open it.  They enter what appear to be living quarters.  They find a bookshelf full of instructional tomes on evil.  They take the books and scrolls back to the tapestry and dump them there.  They also find some fine plates and silverware that appears to be of value.  They decide to leave it and pick it up on the way out.

The go down the passageway and are confronted with a large group of beings streaming out of a doorway.  Glade casts sleep with no affect on the villians.  As they approach, the party sees that they are facing skeletons and undead.  BreAnna and Cassius cast heat metal on the armor of 4 of the skeletons.  They attack BreAnna and Cassius, but miss.  Round two starts with Tais casting Magic Missile at a group of figures that has appeared all the way down the hall hitting one but not enough.  Glade attempts sleep again on the new figures that have appeared.  Four of them fall asleep.  Harimand and Frederick casts Turn Undead and causes  a large group to flee.  Suddenly the hall becomes much quieter as two Silence spells go off.  One centered on the party and one on the group of figures at the end of the hall.  Part of the party retreats down the hall to be able to cast spells.  Glade casts Phantasmal Force causing a wall of fire to spring up between the party and the undead, but it has no affect on them as they are immune to it.  The rest of the party engages in melee combat in eerie silence cutting down several of the undead.  Combat continues with the undead attacking.  Glade throws an flask of oil destroying one zombie and injuring another.  More undead go down to Magic Missiles and melee attacks.  Meanwhile, the humans down the hall have been using this time to wake the other sleeping humans.  The human leader is blinded by Harimand with a light spell but manages to draw his mace anyway.  The four other humans are put to sleep.  The evil leader is hit with two magic missiles just as he swallows a potion causing him to disappear into mist, but he still has a glowing sphere attached to his head.  The sphere rushes towards the party and finishes movement in the midst of the party members.  It's hit by Legolas with a Magic Missile and falls to the ground.  The party continues to mop up the remaining undead creatures while Glade continues to stomp on the mist and hit it with his quarterstaff.  They dispatch the sleeping humans and gather around the glowing mist.  They spend some time healing and seeing what happens to the mist.

The mist condenses after about an hour to the form of a human in black raiment with a red robe underneath. Determining him to be the leader, he is slain, his head cut off, and his robes and other equipment procured. Several items are detected as magical, including his armor, amulets on both him and the other clerics, and his staff. The written material from the living quarters and the vile tapestry are burned upon the unholy altar.

The group returns to the keep and is congratulated by both the keep guards and also by Priestly. He proclaims that the holy quest is finished, with the leader (which he determines from his robes) vanquished. Both Frederick and Cassius state that they will now return to service at the temple. The group inventories equipment. The plate mail and shield are identified as being both +1; the staff is a clerical weapon called a snake staff, with the command word of "Slitherus"; this staff will encompass a hit victim and hold them fast. The amulets, being evil, are given to Priestly to destroy. He has identified the items and given the party a large gold bonus for completing the quest.

Racial balances in the Borderland Keep area

Due to the frontier setting of the Borderland Keep area, the general rugged terrain, and the prevalence of large bands of humanoids, cross breeding by both consent and violence is fairly common. This has led to fairly large populations of half-ogre, half-elf, and half-orc. Due to these populations existing for a few generations, there is a greater tolerance and sometime even acceptance of racial mixes that would otherwise be frowned on or worse in  other lands of the realm.

Half-ogre and half-orc mercenaries have served from time to time at Borderland Keep. The tolerance for these groups and individuals is greatest there. Kingsholme has some tolerance, while Richton is less tolerant as it's population is more pure blood human.

Silver Valley has historically been more tolerant of half-elven folk then is normal for locales of elven folk. This tolerance did not extend to the half-ogre and half-orc ancestry, as these humanoids are sworn enemies of the elves of that land.

Local Geography and Politics

The location of Borderland Keep is indicative of its name; it is on the borders of the realm. Borderland Keep is staffed by a small group of defenders of freedom and law from the forces of chaos and evil. It was positioned to combat at continual hot spot, known as the caves of chaos. These caves have been cleaned of evil several times, but they continue to attract a variety of humanoid classes, sometimes directed by evil human leaders. It is suspected that to be the current case. A large group of adventurers has been loosely contracted by the Temple of the sun, located at Borderland Keep and overseen by Priestly, to investigate and, if possible, remove the current source of leadership there.

Borderland Keep resides in a fairly temperate location of the world. Several of the forces garrisoned at Borderland Keep come from the Kingdom of the Silver Princess to the West. Also, the small hamlet of Kingsholme to the south serves as a trading partner, primarily in manufactured Smith goods from the famed dwarven smith Kahga.

The city of Richton, farther to the south, also provides a supply of men, arms, and food. Richton is a larger municipality with a ruling Duke and nobility. Its economy focuses on grain and fruit production, with some mining of minerals to the north and east.

In the past, Silver Valley, the locale of the Silver Palace, was a great source of strength, both in the form of magic and men. A large elven and other demi-human population resides (or resided?) in this location. However, news lately of Silver Valley has been rare and dark. Something unknown has caused a communication disruption, both of news, and trade.

The road between Kingsholme and the Keep is fraught with peril. There is a narrow mountain pass and large bands of humanoinds and other dangerous monsters are routinely encountered along this journey. Travelers are advised to be well aware of this danger and to approach this trip in large and well prepared numbers.

Character Bio Lleuvonia

Lleuvonia, with a subtitle "The Beautiful", is indeed a very beautiful female elf. She is an elven priestess of the oaken wood order. This nature order holds plant life most sacred and holds the oak tree as the most important of all trees. This order receives direction from a goddess, but information about her is mostly a mystery, as the focus of the religion is upon earthly plants and their protection.

Lleuvonia is currently engaged in service with the Princess of the Silver Palace. As that realm has recently cut off communication with the surrounding area, not much is known about the current status. However, Lleuvonia recently engaged the services of an adventuring party (unnamed) and they disappeared into the wilderness east of the Silver Palace realm.

Llevuvonia is slightly proud and vain, but genuinely cares about her fellow creatures. She has blond hair and prefers clothing in colors of red, magenta, and yellow.

Character Bio Cassius

Cassius is a cleric of the order of the sun, serving under Priestly in Borderland Keep. He has served there for two years, having arrived at the keep for service when he was 20. He has military training and prefers to use mace and shield, which is common for his order.

Cassius is quiet and reserved. He rarely shares his opinion and looks to others for leadership and direction; however, he is not afraid of using his abilities and calling upon his god for assistance. 

Cassius has brown hair cut very short, no facial hair, blue eyes and stands 6' 1" tall. He weighs 185 pounds and has average strength and health. Frederick prefers a black and white robe, with yellow highlights. He wears a skull cap and attempts to keep his clothing clean and comely. 

Cassius has recently been engaged with an adventure party (that as yet has not adopted a name), to investigate the notorious caves of chaos. His main quest is to seek out a rumored temple of evil and vanquish the leader and report. Cassius has developed a friendship with Frederick and respects and admires him, as he has been with the temple several years more then he and also is older then Cassius. When Cassius is finished with the current mission, he intends to devote service time at the Borderland Keep Temple. 

Character Bio Frederick

Frederick is a cleric of the order of the sun, serving under Priestly in Borderland Keep. He has served there for seven years, having arrived at the keep for service when he was 19. He has military training and prefers to use mace and shield, which is common for his order.

Frederick is outgoing and direct. He enjoys leading, but does not chafe under the leadership of others. He will give room for leadership to develop, but when that does not occur, he will start to fill that gap.

Frederick has dark brown hair cut moderately short, no facial hair, brown eyes and stands 5' 9" tall. He weighs 145 pounds and has average strength and health. Frederick prefers a royal blue cloak and a white robe. He attempts to keep these items clean and pleasant, but is not fixated upon beauty.

Frederick has recently been engaged with an adventure party (that as yet has not adopted a name), to investigate the notorious caves of chaos. His main quest is to seek out a rumored temple of evil and vanquish the leader and report. Frederick is good friends with his brother in the faith, Cassius, but finds him to be too quiet for his tastes.

Day 54 Adventures in August 2010

The group eats breakfast at the tavern. Legolas meets the group and asks to join the voyage. The group resupplies and prepares to leave. They all leave to go to the caves. Weather has changed; it is at least 15 degrees cooler. They enter the caves and go to "cave 6". The area is deserted, with the bodies of orcs scattered about. The cave is filled with trash and looks like some creatures lived here. We look through the trash and find nothing.

We leave the cave and walk down the hallway. The walls are slimy and muddy. Legolas lights a torch and burns the slime. Legolas sees a hidden nook and shows the rest of the party. He burns the slime away from the door and opens it. It reveals a room with tables, buckets, chairs, and shields. Legolas sees a similar nook in the north wall. The group opens the box and reveals a long bow, arrows, and other things. Legolas opens the other secret door, which opens into another room.

The room is carpeted, has furniture, and tapestries. It look like a battle was here. The party looks behind the curtain and sees a chest. The chest is opened, revealing copper pieces. The party leaves the room through the door which opens into the hallway. The south leads to a crossroads, which leads to a cave entrance. The party goes to "cave 9".

As soon as we enter, evil fills the air. A shrill piping noise is heard. The floors are smooth and echo. The party looks for traps as they enter the cave; this alerts 8 beings. The group attacks the beings. Breanna, suspecting undead, turns them and 3 flee. The party defeats the others and follow the 3. All 3 are destroyed.

The party regroups and Breanna looks for traps. The group walks south down the hallway. They find a pile of rubble and find a room. Inside, they see skeletons lining the walls. They prepare to enter the room, casting protection from evil on the group, along with bless, aid, and shillelagh. The skeletons do nothing as they enter the room, but the party attacks the skeletons anyway. All of the skeletons are torn to pieces without incident. There were amulets around the necks of the skeletons, that are removed. Legolas looks for secret doors and moves all weapons away from the skeletons. The group decides to eat and sleep for 1 hour. Breanna approaches the throne. She casts detect magic and it appears magical. Belzedar uses a thief tool to remove gems from the throne; he claims 4 gems.

The group leaves the room and heads west. This leads to another room. In the room they see 8 figures similar to the ones fought earlier. They begin to come towards the group. Belzedar makes the first attack. Troy attacks with a crossbow. Frederick and Cassius try to turn the creatures. The creatures attack the group. They do little damage. The group returns the attack, destroy them, and leave the room.

The party moves backwards towards the cave entrance. They approach 2 doors but hear nothing. They open the east door which leads to stairs heading downwards. They open the north door, which goes up the stairs to a room with men in it. Belzedar shoots an arrow, killing one instantly. Legolas shoots a magic missle. They cast silence and hold person. Troy runs up and attacks the men. The group kills the men. They then search the room. The search the bodies and one has an amulet. They find gold in each pouch. Each person gets 7 gold pieces. They gather the armor and the swords. They head back to the keep. Belzedar takes one amulet. The party goes to the priest to show them the amulet. They talk to the priest and destroy the amulet.

The party decides to move to "cave 6". Remembering the last incident as this cave, Breanna casts a trap finding spell to avoid the net that so easily surprised us last time. We decide to set a trap of our own. Glade casts an illusion of two travellers trapped in the net that we had sprung. The orcs come in a large group to investigate while we were hiding in the illusion so it appeared there was only the forest around. We got ready a couple of oil flasks, let the cloth to ignite them, and then threw them behind the line of orcs. 7 orcs went down from the flame and our party continued to fire arrows at the confused orcs. After 20 of the orc party is dead, a sleep spell is cast on the remaining orcs, with only 6 of them falling to the spell. 2 orcs try to recover bows on the ground but are shot dead. Members of our party move forward to attack 4 orcs on the left side of the cave entrance, while arrows are shot at 4 orcs on the right. 1 orc was shot down on the right while the other 3 rush in behind Torque and Norman. The orcs miss the attack on Torque and Norman. Chieko the elvish thief attempted to fire and arrow at one of the orcs behind Torque and almost shoots her own foot but manage to shoot Torque in the back instead. The remaining orcs are destroyed with one orc being hit into a horrible crunching mess. Torque is healed and the party moves into the cave after the entrance is searched for items, but nothing was really found.

We find a room after a little distance with 2 orc women and a few kids. Torque talks to them in orcish and they plead for protection and offer to be Torque and Norman's mates. Eventually the party decides that Torque, Norman, and Chieko can stay to guard them. The rest of the party moves north farther into the cave and find a door. The door gets pulled open and 3 orc warriors yell out an alarm. Part of the party is surprised. Bob attacks one and kills him while dodging attacks from two of the orcs. A spell is cast by Breanna to heat the metal of the orc armor. Another orc is slain while the last orc turns to run. Bobo attacks with his sword and puts it through the back of the orcs armor and watches the orc fall to the ground. Bobo, Picolo, and Chieko had an emergency and head back to the keep. Suddenly an army of orcs appears and prepare to wreak havok on the group of travelers (Ed. I think this last line was a joke; also, the journal keeper must have changed as writing style changes here.).

Paxmax has tried to attack and failed. He received 5 points of damage in his attempt. Jones attacks and kills an orc with 8 points. Paxmax does 7 damage and kills an orc into a bloody pulp. Paxmax and Belzedar heal 5 points of damage. Frederick attacks with 12 points and misses. Paxmax deals 5 damage and destroys his enemy. Cassius swings but misses.

Back in the cave room with the females, they converse for awhile. Sooner or later, the female orcs are ready to leave and Torque and Norman allow them to go. The two 1/2 ogre "brothers" set out to meet up with the group. Jones attacks with 5 and misses. All enemies are killed.

Torque and Norman found the group and now are ready to travel. Breanna uses her magic and healed herself. Breanna detects magic and finds 50' of magic rope. We also carry out a ton of gold and other pieces of treasure.

We arrive at the Keep about 4:00 PM. Breanna talks to Groucho. We talk to the priest, Priestly. They received word of the caves, that they are swarming with evil.

Priestly checks the magical rope and finds it to be a climbing rope with the command "climbsay"; this causes the rope to become rigid or retracts to the user. Cassius and Frederick stay at the temple and then the remainder of the party goes to the trader. We sell 30 long swords, 9 suits of chain mail (!!!), and 1 suit of plate mail fro 456 gold and 16 silver. We also sold a barrel of win for 55 gold. The party all receives 58 XP.

We all returned to the inn for a good nights sleep.

Day 50 & 51 Caves of Chaos

Day 50

Party has camped in the woods east of the caves.

We search for healing herbs and small game. We find some black squirrels but don't catch any; no herbs are found. Breanna travels to the caves from the keep and makes it safely. We eat lunch rations and head to "cave 7". We make it there about 1:15 PM.

We go to the far end of the cave and then take a right and go down the stairs. We continue north and see a passage that goes to the NW. Belzedar unlocks the door after two attempts. Bobo opens the large oak door. We discover a store of goods. Bobo chugs 2 flasks of high quality ale. He begins to sing and dance uncontrollably.

Belzedar finds a magical sword. As he unsheathes the sword, he is uncontrollably drawn to this weapon. This is now his favored weapon even over the missile weapons. The sword gives off a 30 foot light equal to torch light, but it is a bluish light.

We head back down the cave to the east where we encountered the gnolls earlier. We go to a large room at the end of the tunnel. We had been there before, but we wanted to go back and check for secret doors. Bobo's drunkenness starts to wear off (due to his high Ogrish constitution no doubt).

We find no passages. We loot the room in the NW and take the fine ale. Bobo somehow manages to cover it with a bag, so that he is not tempted to drink it. We take some dwarven chain mail and head to the keep.

We receive some grave news from Groucho, the head guard: the Silver Palace is having troubles and there are forces of chaos that have been spotted to the south of the keep. We sell the fine ale to Trevor, the innkeeper, and then eat dinner.

Day 51

At 8:00 AM, meet in the inn's common room. We head to the caves and on the way, discover caves "8 and 9". "Cave 6" is the orc cave; we take the head of the gnoll leader from "cave 7". Bobo yells into the cave HELLLOOOOO!!! Orcs come from all sides; we request to speak to their leader. We give the orcs the gnoll head and they shoo us awa and shoot at us with arrows. Bobo is hit once and Belzedar is hit twice - we make it to "cave 8". As we enter the cave, we feel dizzy and nauseous.

We go into the cave anyway and find a minotaur. After we defeat it, we stop feeling dizzy and sick. Cassius is unconscious. We rest for 4 hours and he recovers. We find a hidden chamber in the minotaur's quarters. It has a trapped chest and we manage to get it open. We find magic vials and chests full of treasure!

We run into 2 insect creatures that glow red (fire beetles). Bobo does a sweep attack and kills them both stone dead! We continue on and run into 3 more fire beetles.

We awake to the sound of squeaking. It dies down and then picks back up the further we get into the cave. We encounter some mosquito fly type creatures. They take down Bobo! and Fredrerick. Three of the mosquitoes escape and fly out the entrance of the cave, leading us out of the cave maze.

Day 48/49, Game date of 18th Sept

7:00 we get up. We are the last group in the inn/keep. We buy a sling for Paxmax. We make it to the caves at 10:00 AM. We enter "cave 7". Paxmax lights a lantern and hands it to Bobo. Bobo returned to the room with the orc children and sees nothing.

Good weather and good food. Hear a rumor of lizard tribes in the marshes to the SE of the keep. Go to the caves anyway, reach by 10:00 AM, go to "cave 4". A foul stench fills the air, reeks of death. Breanna remembers an incident that turns us around to go to cave 7 filled with gnolls.

As we entered "cave 7", half of our party was surprised by 4 gnolls; the 4 gnolls were also surprised in turn. 3 of the gnolls went down with bows from Cassius, and Chieko, and then a charge from Bobo. The 4th gnoll took a few attacks to bring down but between the party, it was brought down with the final blow belonging to Bobo, the stinky ogre!

We continue through the caves, choosing to move down a corridor on the right. We move 30 feet down this corridor when Chieko was surprised when she looked down a path branching off to the left. She was shot at by two of the gnolls in the adjoining room. Belzedar attempted to fire an arrow but missed. Picolo attempted the same and damaged one of the male gnolls. Bobo approached this same gnoll and one swing of his sword brought the gnoll down. Breanna cast a light spell to blind a couple of the creatures. A gnoll in the back of the cave is playing on a flute, a special battle tune dedicated to the Bobo. Bobo, inspired by the tun, takes out another of the gnolls. Picolo runs to the front and takes out a gnoll as everyone starts chanting his name: Picolo, Picolo, Picolo...and then he woke up. (Ed. I think it was Bobo who journaled this entry, therefore, there might be some falsehood to it).

All the gnolls are killed but 1 female who surrenders. Our party then noticed that there were children gnolls also in the room. We debate on our course of action for a short time and guard the children in the corner. We loot the bodies and we leave the children and the female is tied up and left; we then leave the cave.

2 hours later we make it to the keep, buy lunch for 3 1/2 gold and sold extra weapons and armor, earning 8 sp. XP gained was 182 humans, 173 others.

(Ed. some other crazy Bobo entry here). We enter a room and face several gnolls. We take them all down but Cassius and Frederick are now badly injured. It's 11:00 AM now. We campout and wait. We rest and eat. Everyone is healed to full health.

Some Day (Probably around Day 49, Bobo Journaled)

Ate a good breakfast, visited shop to resupply oil.

Travel to the caves and at 11:30 approach caves. Light lantern at "cave 4", then go to the right. Trap pit was skirted, we continue through and take right passage. Passage opens to a room full of kobolds. We try to talk a little and retreat from the cave -there were too many kobolds (ed. more then 60 eh???)

We try "cave 6" - directly inside we find an intersection.
We go to the left and follow the passage to a dungeon room. It is discovered that we had previously explored this cave before as "cave 2". We leave the cave and continue to a different cave. We label this as "cave 6".

We trip a net trap that falls on us and traps us for a few rounds. The net made a lound sound because of metal plats tied to it and alerted some orcs. The orcs ordered us to surrender and we attempted to free ourselves. Frederic, Breanna, and Cassius cast protection from evil. Frederick is taken out, others took some damage. We surrender and they tie us up, blind fold us, and take us into the caves. We are brought before a very large orc. He asks why we are there. We explain that we are looking for kobolds (ed. Heh!). The orc says they will not kill us if we attack the gnolls across the other cave because they are enemies. We agree to bring back the head of their leader. We are escorted from the caves.

We approach "cave 7" and enter to find a small room with a passage way. There are 4 figures that immediately start attacking us without asking questions. A battle ensues (Picolo rolls a 1 and breaks his bow string hah hah, Bobo). We attack with bows and slings and return fire. The gnolls go down with minor damage to the party.

We continue through a room and follow the passage to the right. This passage continued down some stairs and we followed it until it opened into a room on the left with a smaller room in the back corner. There are 8 gnolls with broadswords in the back room. We commence attacking; they retreat around the corner, then they yell and charge us. Picolo did damage to a creature, he is an awesome team mate! The creatures go down and we loot the bodies. Day 55 & 56 Caves of Chaos

Day 55 - Known as the days of the Cleric and Magic Users!

The group wakes up in the inn after a good nights rest. The group talks to Cassius and Frederik who were eating breakfast. The group eats breakfast and decides to go to the caves. The group departs and leaves to the caves. It takes about an hour to reach the caves. Breanna cast find traps at the entrance of the cave. No traps have been detected. Cassius light a lantern so the group can see in the dark cave. The group enters the cave and move north. They come to the two doors visited earlier. The group enters the north door. Legolas searches the edges of the room for secret door. The group leaves the room and enters the east door. It slops down for twenty feet with a passage turning to the south. Which then turns back to the East. The passage way goes on for as far as they can see and has a passage which leads South and North. The South passage goes down twenty feet and turns East for ten feet. The passage continues to move in a South direction. There is a door on the East and a ten foot empty space to the West. Legolas searches the empty space for secret doors and finds nothing. The door is made of strong iron and has a prison lock. Breanna looks through the window in the door. She sees a twenty foot square room. There are skeletons and also a womans leg with the rest of her body hidden behind a wall. Breanna casts detect evil looking into the room. The leg is radiating evil. The group heads back to the crossroads were they had turned south. They look down the East and North passages. The group moves down the North passage. There is a ten foot empty space on the West. Legolas looks for secret doors and finds none. There is also a wooden door on the West of the passage way. Tace listens at the door but hears nothing. Breanna opens the door with a rope and reveals some kind of guest room. There is a bed a table and some tapestries with evil depictions of sacrifices. They burn the tapestries. Legolas and Tais searches the edges of the room for secret doors. Tais removes a velvet cloth on the table which is covering a mirror. The group leaves the room and looks down the stair which head North. There is a large man standing at the bottom of the stairs which sees the group and shouts "Intruders you are not welcome here!" Harimad hits the man with a sling for 3 damage. Tace hits him with a magic missile for 7 damage. Breanna blinds his eye with light. Legolas hit him with a magic missile for 2 damage. He man comes up the stairs and swings at Breanna and misses. Tais hits hit the man with a magic missile for 6 damage. Legolas hits him for 5 damage. The man falls to the ground and Harimad hits him with his mace and he dies. Under his black robes they find chain-mail. Cassius casts detect magic on the ax and the chain-mail. The group moves down the stairs and find a torture room with all kinds of torture materials. They leave and move back to the main passage. They look down the passage way to the South. There is a door and another passage down the hall. The door is bolted shut. Tais listens at the door. Tais opens the door which releases a stench of death. There are steps leading down to room. They look into the room. This is a massive burial room with crypts on either side. Frederik casts detect magic looking to either side of the room. One of the crypts is detected as evil. While the group is talking, the crypt lid is opened and a evil almost human looking creature emerges. Tace through a burning flask of oil and misses. Legolas hits the creature with a magic missile for 2 damage. Breanna casts turn undead and the creature is completely unaffected. Harmad cast protection from evil on Tais. The creature hits Legolas which feels his life force leave him and falls to the ground. Tais hits the creature with a magic missile. Frederick steps up with his mace and swipes at the creature and misses. Cassius also tries to hit the creature and misses. Hermad casts protection from evil on Breanna. Tais moves away from the creature and hits the creature with a magic missile for 7 damage. The creature bursts into dust. The groups looks at Legolas and hid that his life force is gone from him and must be taken back to the temple to be restored. They leave and bolt the door behind. They leave the caves with no incident. They reach the keep and report their findings to the guard. The reach the temple were they are told that it was a powerful white that has drained his all his energy. It will cost 1000 gold pieces to revive Legolas. The group is barely able to get enough money to pay for the powerful healing spell. They leave Legolas at the temple and go to the keep to eat and sleep.

Day 56

Legolas, Harimad, Cassius, Frederik, Breanna, Tais

They group walks up and prepares to go back to the caves. Legolas was well cared for at the temple and is now back with the group. They enter the caves and move back to one of the unexplored passages near the bolted door they visited earlier. The passage leads to a room which is forty by forty feet. The room is filled with boxes, barrels and crates. Legolas and Tace look for secret doors on the wall that is on the same side as the prison visited earlier. Frederick and Cassius stand watch while the rest of the group searches the boxes and crates. Frederick and Cassius alert the group that something is coming down the passage. As a light approaches they see a large glob of translucent material which is slightly cube shaped. Tais hits the blob with a magic missile for 7 damage. Slime splatters everywhere Legolas hit the blob with magic missile for 5 damage. Breanna uses shillelagh weapon to hit the blob for 8 damage points. Large parts of the creature are missing. Cassius misses and Frederick finishes the creature with his mace. They see that there is coinage and bones in the slim from the creature. Legolas, Tais and Breanna search for secret doors while Harimad collects the coins and begins to search through the boxes. All the clerics use detect magic and find no magic. After all the room has been searched they find nothing but the coinage. The group decides to leave the caves and go back to the keep.
